General Rules
To search for a Bangla-to-English word.

To search a Bangla word, type a Bangla word in English, following the basic rules, as explained below:
  • Use A to search for a word that has phonetic like  A,
         for example, Amr
    (amar) means Ever-lasting.
  • Use Aa to search for a word that has phonetic like  Aa,
          for example, Aamar (aamaar) means Mine.
         This protocol has been adapted to minimize confusion when writing a Bangla word in English like,

          Amr (amar) Aamar (aamaar)
          Apr(apar) Apar(apaar)
          kpIH(kapatt) kpaIH(kapaatt)
          dln(dalan) dalan(daalaan)
          kla(kalaa) kala(kaalaa),
    to name a few.
  • Use I to search for a word that has phonetic like  hH,
          for example,
         hHtr (itar) means mean-minded.    
         ¬Sav(irshaa), means Jealous.
  • Use Sh to search for a word that that has phonetic like   S, s, L
         for example,
         shsa (sahashaa) means All of a sudden.
         SaiR (shaarh) means Ox, or
         LLa (shashaa) means Cucumber
  • Use  J to search for a word that phonetic like, either  j
         for example,
         jahaj (jaahaaj) means Ship. or     f      for example,
         fafabr (jaajaabar) means Nomad.
  • Use T to search for a word that phonetic like  t      for example,
         trl (taral) means Liquid.
  • Use  N to search for a word that phonetic like  n      for example,
         ngr (nagar) means City or town.
         nagr (naagar) means Lover.
        or,  N      for example,
         Nak (naak) means Nose.
  • Use  Ch to search for a word that phonetic like  c      for example,
         cakr (chaakar) means Servant.
         caca (chaachaa) means Uncle.
  • For emphasized characters, e.g. K, G, C, J, T, D, P, B
       add h to the phonetic English character, e.g. Kha, Gha, Chha, Jha, Tha, Dha, Pha and Bh, respectively,
        for the above Bangla characters.

  • Use Tt and Tth, respectively, to search for words that have phonetic like  IH      for example,
         IHaka (ttaakaa) means Rupee. and  F      for example,
         Fakurdada (Tthaakurdaadaa) means Grandfather.
  • Use Dd and Ddh, respectively, to search for words that have phonetic like  i      for example,
         ial (Ddaal) means Branch or Soup of split peas. and  I       for example,
         Ialu (Ddhaalu) means Sloping.
  • Finally, use t-t (hyphenated) to search for words that have phonetic like  ox, Ÿ·, ˜·      for example,
         iHoxap (ut-taap) means Heat.      t˜·x (tat-twa) means Inner meaning.

    lit. Literally.
